  1. Coat a large skillet with vegetable oil and heat to medium-high heat. Put in carrots, celery, and onion and cook for 5 minutes covered.
  2. Crush garlic cloves and add to the skillet. Cook an additional minute.
  3. Add 2 cups of water, bullion, spices, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce to the skillet. Bring to a boil.
  4. Add rice to the skillet evenly distributed. Add ham and beans and fold them in until thoroughly mixed.
  5. Turn heat on low to allow a simmer and let simmer for 20 minutes covered, stirring every 5 minutes to avoid burning. Serve.
